It makes it hard to play as a more grounded character when no matter how you play a character is going to whip out a laser lasso or a giant mech suit. It just feels a bit out of place, like they should be secret weapons you use in free-roam, not something acknowledged by the lore and cutscenes as part of the story or the characters within it. To me, those things should be included but not the basis of an entire gang. I really dislike the gangs in Saints Row that are hackers or use high-tech weaponry and gadgets.

Of course they'd all be more extreme versions of those, but it would've been quite cool to see their take on them. Saints Row IV > General Discussions > Topic Details. Saints Row the Third and IV where good games but not detailed and doesn't feel like Saints Row.Agreed, I think I would have liked a Saints Row game with one gang that's thug, one that's a bunch of mobsters (pinstripe suits, tommy guns, all about racketeering) and then maybe stick with the concept of Marshall but instead of using futuristic weapons they lean all in on the Wild West/Modern Cowboy shtick (motorcycles and horses, repeaters and revolvers, lassos etc). It was a very detailed game with great missions. There was a prison, the pads where cool, and homie bitches were hilarious with their side commentary. In Saints Row 2 you'd be able to dual wield Katanas, ride a motorcycle while killing people with a katana or machete. The customization is weaker, the voice acting is weaker (Cursing someone out in Cholo Hispanic was great), the car modifications are weaker (hydraulics?), the cities are smaller and the guns aren't good. Saints Row the Third and Saints Row IV added some cool missions but besides that the city seems empty and pointless. The police station was also there and all the missions were fun. There was pimps who organized to attack you, even though not an actual gang. There was legit drive bys where you would have three homies and start blasting random gang members.

Stronger than the Boss: The Boss can throw people through crates and can swing around a cinderblock. Im a lot more knowledgeable on Yakuza than I am on SR so forgive me if this analysis is in any way inaccurate. There was also more hidden locations like the Pyramid underground, the secret Islands, the underground mall, etc. Kazuma Kiryu (Yakuza) VS The Boss (Saints Row) The Boss is pre-Saints Row 4 and is limited to the Penetrator (dildo bat) as a weapon. Every pedestrian was also unique and tons of commentary. You're just standing there watching a full blown war that you're not involved in. If your homies even got slightly touched by a pedestrian they'd beat the shit out of them, the cops would show up and then it'd be an ignorant shootout. In Saints Row 2 the pedestrians were awesome.
